Restoration work on JULIA is underway - (January 2012)
JULIA, the first West Channel One Design launched by Morgan Giles Ltd in 1946, is currently undergoing some restoration work in Co. Sligo, Ireland. Her owner, Guy Marsden, first spotted her laid up in a local yard several years ago. After two years of protracted discussions he purchased her and he is now hoping to have her back in the water by the end of the coming summer. Julia's hull is sound but, amongst other work, she requires a new deck. Guy is undertaking the work himself. With ALATA being further down the coast in Co. Galway it would appear that both of these WCOD's have been in Ireland since the 1950's.
