Maypool was built to a standard Morgan Giles design (see The Dinghy Book 1911 reproduced at rear of Ivy’s Journal by Jane Shaddick 2008). Built in 1922 for Sidney and Winifrid Ellyatt who lived next door to Frank Morgan-Giles in Shaldon. 

The Launch then passed to their Son, John and his wife Mary Ellyatt,  The boat was donated to the Exeter Maritme Museum. When the Museum closed down John and Mary's son Simon, who started Baltic Wharf Boatyard in Totnes, managed to get MAYPOOL back, restored her and used her on the Teign. More recently MAYPOOL has been passes to Simon's Nephew, Oliver Rigby and has been restored again and used almost daily in Salcombe.

Apart from the time that MAYPOOL was in Exeter Museum she has been owned and cherished by the same family,
